In 1945, when Provins Valais thought up the concept of the Capsule Dorée (golden capsule), the wines with the best exposure were listed according to rigorous selection criteria. A strict rule, application of which is regularly checked on the ground by experts, was laid down and made available to meticulous wine growers who could show their harvest to advantage by means of this quality label. Produced in limited quantity, the harvests resulting from the Capsule Dorée wines have, for more than fifty years, enabled Provins Valais to offer top-of-the-range vintage wines with an excellent reputation.

In the early eighties, with a constant desire for improvement, Provins Valais suggested that its wine growers develop certain varieties of vines grown in zones particularly suitable for the production of high-quality wines. More than a label or a charter, Cultivation Contracts were concluded by the Master Wine Growers of Provins with the owners of wines, the respectable age, grape variety and exceptional exposure of which made it possible to prepare superior quality vintage wines. The wine grower, from then on paid by surface area, was able to follow certain production guidelines without worrying about profitability, by choosing, according to certain selection criteria, which would be the optimum yield and the method of growing most suitable for each of the grape varieties known as "spécialités" (Syrah, Cornalin, Petite Arvine, Humagne Blanche, Amigne, etc.).

From spring 2000, Provins Valais gathered all the highly prestigious wines together in the « Maître de Chais » range. The products of a single grape variety or the results of an assemblage of several varieties, these wines benefit from the experience of the expert oenologists of Provins Valais.

With the now famous Vieilles Vignes – the vintage wine that has won the most medals at international level over the last three years - the Grains de Malice, Rouge d'Enfer, Pinot Beuble and other Chardonnays, the « Maître de Chais » range is once and for all destined for success to the delight of those who love exclusive wines.
