Luc Sermier and his «Défi Blanc»

Mad about winemaking and wine tasting, Luc Sermier (45) has worked at Provins for 30 years. A graduate of the «Ecole supérieure d’œnologie» (specialist school of winemaking) in Changins and armed with a federal certificate as a winemaker, he is responsible, along with his team, for 85% of the annual production of the biggest winemaking cooperative in Switzerland. His new range, «The Titans», created in homage to the dam builders in the Valais of the past century, has won 22 medals worldwide since the beginning of 2008. One of the wines in this range, his «Défi Blanc», has just been crowned best «white blend» by the Grand Prix du Vin Suisse in Zurich.

Discreet and reserved by nature, Luc Sermier has found a way of expressing himself through the wines he creates. A top level sportsman, he draws inspiration from his weekly training sessions. The mountains not only moved him to create his «Défi Blanc» («white challenge») but they also imbued this nectar with its specific characteristics because it is matured (in barrels) in the depths of a cavern in the mountainous Val d’Anniviers. Until now, no great wine has ever been made in this way.

His main responsibility is to monitor the vine-to-bottle production of the following wines:
