Provins Valais cellars the production from approximately 1250 hectares of vines situated over the whole of the wine-producing Valais ; these 1250 hectares of vines represent around a quarter of the surface area of Valais. One type of native soil after another follows along the course of the Rhône:

  • in the Lower Valais, as far as Saillon, most of the ground consists of granites and gneiss
  • between Leytron and Sierre, except for the alluvial cone of Chamoson, limestone occupies the ground

More than 50 different grape varieties have been counted in Valais, 9 of which are authentic Valais specialities. Of this wide choice of varieties, Provins Valais makes some twenty into wine.
