Sara Muirhead is one of the Master of Wine, a prestigious and very difficult title to get in the world of

She shares with us her tasting note on ELECTUS.

2011 Electus, Valais Mundi

Youthful appearance. Deep ruby red colour. Pronounced nose. Aromas of ripe black cherries, peppery spice, tobacco and toasty oak, with hints of earthiness, mushroom and game. After some time in the glass, aromas of spiced strawberries appear. The palate shows overt flavours of ripe black cherry, cassis and blueberry with pronounced notes of toasty, smoky oak and cinnamon spice. The wine is rich and rounded with fine, medium firm tannins. The warm alcohol of 14.5 per cent is balanced by the ripe, fleshy fruit characters. However, I found the texture rather too creamy for my personal taste.
